“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting, Amen and Amen’ Psalm 41: 13 As retreatants on our recent day retreat on praying the Psalms learned, that verse appears as the last verse of the Psalms which conclude each of the first 4 books of the Psalms. The Psalms, set against the backdrop of the story of the people of God, poetically describe the cry to God for aid as well as praise for His covenant faithfulness as they live their lives celebrating God’s word, looking forward to the coming of the Messiah. What appears against the backdrop of our lives? Are we able to raise up songs of praise to him, even in the midst of troubles and trials? Is our life punctuated with worship and praise? Do the chapters of our own lives give God the glory? We pray that it is so for you, and also for us here at Sannox Christian Centre as we watch His story unfold. Giving thanks for the life of Alan Hewitt We were saddened to hear of the passing of Alan Hewitt after a long illness. You may not have met Alan, but for many years, he was a faithful supporter of Sannox Christian Centre and lately was involved in managing our database of Friends of Sannox, sending out this monthly newsletter. We remember his wife Eunice and their wider family and friends. PRAYER REQUESTS Give thanks for: – A successful and well attended day retreat in late October focussing on praying the Psalms. – Successful sale of one of the Edinburgh flats donated to SCC to fund the Beehive Chapel. Please pray for: – The development of our retreat programme into 2025. – Continuing favour on fundraising for ongoing running costs. – Ongoing plans for the Beehive Chapel. – An individual who could be on the Sannox Board as a Trustee and Treasurer, working with Heidi, our Administrator who looks after our bookkeeping. – The needed resolution to the island’s ferry crisis, which certainly affects life at Sannox too. We’re thankful for signs ‘on the horizon’! – God to call people to serve as Trustees on the Board from Arran and beyond, to ensure continuity in the future, bring new skills and strengthen our representation on Arran. – Wisdom on how to fund and develop the Manse in the future, initially to provide a sound concrete floor and the roof to stabilise the building and protect it from the weather.
