April 2021 – Prayer News

‘If you want to walk on water you’ve got to get out of the boat’ is the title of one of John Ortberg’s best known books – all about stepping out in faith and trusting God to meet every need.  It’s not something many in our comfortable western Christianity are very good at doing, but it is something that those involved in the Sannox story so far will be familiar with.  Starting with virtually nothing apart from a vision and a sense of calling from God, around £900,000 worth of land purchase, building renovations, salary and other revenue costs has already been raised.

From the start of this month, with the addition of Jim & Angie Farrell to the staff team, we embark on a new chapter and once again we step out of the boat and trust God – Jehovah-Jireh – to provide the additional £7,000 per annum to cover the extra salary costs.

So, as the Friends of Sannox who are committed to supporting and praying for this vision, please join us in prayer as we once again celebrate the wonderful Easter story, to thank God for His provision and ask Him for the next instalment!  And please do join us again at our next monthly prayer gathering on 5 April (see below).

Lord, we give You thanks for…….

  • the encouraging attendance of around 60 at the special Friends gathering on 25th March when we celebrated how You put everything in place to enable Jim & Angie to move to Arran;
  • the safe arrival of Jim, Angie and their belongings on Arran, and that we have been able to provide temporary accommodation for them in the caravan;
  • the building of a strong staff team of Jim (with Angie), Heidi and Michelle;
  • the initial positive encounters Jim has already had with local folk, resulting in a proposal to hold a monthly prayer meeting in the Church (following all current Covid-19 guidance);
  • the first grant of £4,500 towards the costs of renovating the former Manse.

Please pray for…….

  • a new home for Jim and Angie, ideally close to Sannox with at least 3 or 4 bedrooms, so that they are able to continue fostering children, for which there is a local need;
  • an increase in regular giving of £600 per month, to support our staff team’s salary costs;
  • the events programme, as we await clarification of the restrictions in May & June;
  • plans for the first of the monthly Saturday worship evenings at Sannox;
  • good weather as Jim leads a short service on Sannox beach at sunrise on Easter Sunday, followed by a worship time in Sannox church at 3pm (following all guidance);
  • wisdom as to the best time to re-open Dundarroch Cottage for bookings (subject to Covid guidelines)  – pray that people will start booking and visiting Sannox;
  • completion of the paths around the church for wheelchair and emergency access, the fitting of the new interior doors in the church and other final touches;
  • full healing for Maggie Lane, Director following her replacement knee operation, and for her husband Brian;
  • the rest of the £250,000 needed to renovate the former Manse.

The Sannox Prayer

“Today I choose to stand in this place you have called me to,
And I declare that You are a Mighty God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.
Your Kingdom shall endure and will never be shaken.
Open the windows of Heaven and pour out Your promised blessings in this generation.
Revive us, restore us and heal our land.
Thank you for going before us to open the way and remove all obstacles.
Increase our Faith, stir up Hope and keep us grounded and walking in Love.
Thank you that You are creating a dwelling place for God and man here – in Sannox, on Arran, for the nations.
Amen”

We bless you in the name of Jesus, especially at this special time when we recall His death and celebrate His resurrection, to receive all that the Father has for you, and we thank you for your continuing support of His work at SCC.  Be blessed and protected in all you do for the Kingdom, in the mighty and beautiful name of Jesus.
