May Prayer News
“Today I choose to stand in this place you have called me to, We continue to say this prayer together so that the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, might be glorified and His light, love, peace, forgiveness and power might sweep through the Isle of Arran, the rest of Scotland, the United Kingdom and the nations of the world |
Key Prayer Points
1. Prayer Gatherings – In Edinburgh we will gather on Monday 6 May 2019 at the home of George and Fiona Hazel starting at 8 pm prompt. We will be joined by folks on Arran and across the UK and abroad. Please join with us as we join in prayer and thanksgiving for what God is doing at Sannox. 2. Encounter Events – a. 19-21 April – Easter weekend. We had an amazing time over Easter at Sannox taking part in the Arran Churches Together March of Witness on Good Friday, walking through the Stations of the Cross at Sannox on Saturday and on Easter Sunday, meeting on the beach for the sunrise followed by breakfast and a time of worship and sharing. All who attended were blessed by the Father and by the weather! b. 3-4 May – Living a Fear Free Life – led by Andy Hall, Lighthouse Church, Troon. This is a repeat of the successful event in 2018 but it will be held at Sannox. It would be great to have more people attending this event so please come and encourage others to attend. Email admin@sannox.org for more information and to book. c. 31 May-1 June – Walking the Ancient Paths. This event was going to be led by Roy Searle but unfortunately Roy is unwell and is not able to travel. We are working with Roy to find a replacement and will keep let you know as soon as we can what is happening. d. 5-6 July – Rest and Restoration Weekend. This will be a time of worship, rest and restoration led by the Sannox Team. There will be no formal teaching but opportunities to worship through music and creative arts or to walk the paths and beaches around Sannox. Fiona will be offering massage as well. Email admin@sannox.org for more information and to book accommodation. e. 2-5 August – Arran Open Studios. We are hoping to have the church wind and watertight to accommodate workshops even though it will just be four walls, a roof and an earth floor! f. 6-7 September – Song writing workshop led by Jim Farrell, Francis McFaul, Adam Walsh and George Hazel. A weekend of worship through music releasing new songs from Sannox for the Kingdom. Email admin@sannox.org for more information and to book. |
3. Directors Meeting on 20 April
All 5 Directors met on Easter Saturday at Sannox to pray and plan for the future. It was an amazing time of ministry, unity and decisions! Thank you for remembering us in prayer. After a time of sharing and prayer the main topics discussed were the financing of the centre and building works, the financial plan, future development of the centre, the building works and the events programme. Please continue to pray for the Directors as we seek to follow in the footsteps of Jesus with respect to the development of SCC. |
4. Restoration of the church and manse
The building works are moving at pace with the church roof removed and the new roof trusses being built and fitted. All the demolition works have been completed and now we rebuild. The weather vane, which was broken and seized is now restored to its former glory on top of the bell tower. It looks magnificent and is the first element of the refurbished church in place. The bell tower is well on the way to being restored and the new roof is being fitted. The current contract includes the refurbishment of the roof and bell tower and church windows but not the floor of the church and fitting out the interior. The Directors felt strongly that the Lord was guiding us to pray and plan for the full restoration of the church and this is what we are now doing. Our Executive Director, George, has been asked to look at the financial options available regarding funding the completion of the church building. Please pray for us as we look at these options. |

5. Work Party in July
We are putting together a work party for the middle two weeks of July. This is to paint the outside of the church (current building works are due to finish at the beginning of June) and build the temporary kitchen and toilets to service the church. We need painters, labourers and those with building skills to come and help. If you can come for a week or a few days email Heidi at admin@sannox.org. |
6. Financial Plan
The Directors discussed the Financial Plan developed by our Finance Group. This involved looking at the funding of the building works, reducing our costs to ensure our income is greater that our costs and actioning a marketing plan to increase the guest usage of the centre. We have cut our monthly costs by around £1,000 which has moved our finances into the black. This is mainly due to a voluntary reduction in our staff costs. We are developing a list of actions to increase the awareness of SCC so that more people use the centre. One of the actions is to develop a summary brochure that you could distribute to your networks if you felt it was appropriate. Please pray for us as we implement our financial plan and continue to pray that God will release the resources we need. We bless you, in the name of Jesus, to receive all that the Father has for you and thank you for your continuing support of His work at SCC. May we see more and more people being rested, restored and revived at Sannox in 2019. |
