August 2021 – Prayer News

A ‘Safe Place’

“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!……..For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”  [Ps 133 NIV]

A key element of the Sannox vision is that it is a ‘safe place’ where all are welcome.  There are no ‘labels’ – as was once said in another Christian context, ‘the labels fall off when we come through the door’.  Whatever our church or theological background, when we are at Sannox we are the ‘family of God’ gathering to pray, worship, fellowship, love, encourage, support and learn from one another.  We focus on what we agree on, not on what we may have differing views about.

It is the same when we gather to pray for Sannox, whether in person or online.  Our focus is the fulfilment of the vision, on seeking the Father’s heart and His direction in order to achieve His purposes in, with and through Sannox – for Arran, for Scotland, for the nation and the nations.

Gathering together in this way and with such a focus delights the heart of God – so much so that, as the Psalmist reminds us, He bestows, or commands´ His blessing!  So we warmly invite you, the Friends of Sannox and anyone else you wish to bring with you, to join again in prayer next Monday 2 August – giving thanks to God for His goodness and provision to date and bringing before the throne of grace the current needs.  If you are not able to join us then, please do use the prayer points below in your own times.

There is a dynamic spiritual power released through corporate prayer – and a commanded blessing!  Come and be part of the journey.

Lord, we give You thanks for….

  • our volunteers, the new paths they are laying, the new lectern now in place, the new church doors now fitted and the installation of the wifi system – now live and ready for streaming;
  • the increasing number of day visitors, and that Jim & Angie are there to care for them and show them around;
  • the increase in guest bookings and the number now able to stay at Dundarroch – up to 8 from 4 households, and able to gather in the church – now 19 ‘spaces’ (or 19 to 38 people);
  • the establishment of regular monthly ‘Sannox Saturday’ praise and prayer evenings;
  • the visit of Dr John Higgs of the Joseph Rank Trust on 21 July, and for the helpful fundraising information he has provided since then.

Please pray for…..

  • Arran Open Studios 12th-16th August – that all organisers, artists and contributors would be blessed by Father God, that the Sannox team would flow together and be well used in God’s service, that God’s protection would be on all who come to Sannox, that eyes and hearts will be open to the Spirit’s presence and for opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus to as many as the Spirit leads;
  • our Chairman Andy Hall who conducts his daughter’s wedding at Sannox on 21 August – that the day will be a blessing for all the family and guests;
  • a favourable report by Dr Higgs to his Board who meet on 14th October, and that they will award a significant grant;
  • more to come and stay at Dundarroch and an increase in gifts from guests;
  • funding for the Manse renovation, and for Stuart Carr, Director, as he finalises the detailed plans for submission to South Ayrshire Council for amended planning permission;
  • additional regular donors to lay a solid foundation in support of the general running costs;
  • the worship team as they design and plan the system for streaming worship and teaching;
  • the ongoing planning of Project 200 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Sannox Church.

The Sannox Prayer

“Today I choose to stand in this place you have called me to,
And I declare that You are a Mighty God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth.
Your Kingdom shall endure and will never be shaken.
Open the windows of Heaven and pour out Your promised blessings in this generation.
Revive us, restore us and heal our land.
Thank you for going before us to open the way and remove all obstacles.
Increase our Faith, stir up Hope and keep us grounded and walking in Love.
Thank you that You are creating a dwelling place for God and man here – in Sannox, on Arran, for the nations.
Amen”

We bless you in the name of Jesus, to receive all that the Father has for you, and we thank you for your continuing support of His work at SCC.  Be blessed and protected in all you do for the Kingdom, in the mighty and beautiful name of Jesus.
